Scottsdale Public Library’s Ultimate Play Date Book Co-op

Story Monster is grabbing his crayons and coloring sheets and heading back to the Scottsdale Public Library’s Ultimate Play Date. 5,000 children and families from the surrounding communities are expected to gather for this free event on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. outside the Civic Center Library in Scottsdale. Include your children’s book in our Story Monster & Friends co-op display to sell at the Story Monsters booth and in the co-op catalog that will be included in 100 Greenie Bags. We also have space available in our booth for authors to sell and sign books if you want to attend the event. As an added service, we are also offering a publicity package option to give your book even more exposure. Read on for details.

For each book you enter as a Story Monster & Friends co-op partner at Scottsdale Public Library's Ultimate Play Date, you will receive:

  1. You don’t have to be there for us to display your book(s)! Your book(s) will be offered for purchase for whatever price you set minus Scottsdale sales tax and $1 commission for the salesperson at the booth. But, if you choose to attend the event, you can sell your own books (Scottsdale sales tax license required) or Story Monsters can sell them for you.

    Please send us up to five (5) author-signed copies of your book or two (2) copies for our display if you plan to sell your own books. If you plan to sell your own books, you are responsible for bringing any desired quantity of books, bags, receipts, cash for making change, and Scottsdale sales tax license.

    Books will not be returned, and any unsold books will be offered for review or donated on your behalf to a 501(c)(3) organization that supports children or literacy. A check will be mailed to you after the event for any books sold.

  2. A listing about the book in a co-op catalog that will be included in 100 Greenie bags and given away at the booth.

  3. A post on Story Monster's Facebook page promoting your participation at the event.

  4. Photos of your book at the event shared on Facebook or Instagram.

  5. A potential increase in book sales after the event at places such as Amazon or the author's website.

  6. A potential for invitations to present at schools, libraries and other events.

Book Signing Space Available!

Will you be in town for the event or are you a local but don't want the hassle of running your own booth? We have space available for you to sell and sign books at the Story Monsters booth.

  1. Book signing space is half of a 6 ft. table space at the Story Monsters booth for you to promote, sell, and sign books. You are welcome to bring a poster (no larger than 2 ft. high), performance puppet, book rack, giveaways, etc., but please keep in mind that the table space will be shared with another author. Please be respectful.

  2. You are responsible for bringing books, bags, receipts, cash for making change, and supplies for a kid-friendly craft. Please Note: You will need to provide craft supplies for a minimum of 15 participants. The craft must be approved by the Scottsdale Public Library prior to October 15th.

  3. You are responsible for obtaining Scottsdale sales tax license to sell books at the event.

  4. Sign up by October 1, 2019 to be included in the event program and website.

Get Word Out to the Community!

We will write a custom co-op news release about your participation in our co-op to be pitched to local media and posted on social media. Sign up by October 1, 2019.

After you complete your order, please send us the following:

  1. If you have not participated in one of our co-op events before, we will need a hi-res PDF or JPG file of your book cover and author photo. Email to: Linda Radke at info@storymonsters.com.

  2. Up to five (5) author-signed copies of your book if Story Monsters is selling your books or two (2) copies for our display if you plan to sell your own books. Books will not be returned and will be offered for possible review or donated to a 501(c)(3) organization supporting children or literacy unless prior arrangements have been made with Story Monsters LLC.
