We are now accepting entries for the 2026 Purple Dragonfly Book Award Contest.
The Purple Dragonfly Book Award contest is open to children’s printed books, eBooks and audiobooks published in any calendar year, in any country, provided they are written in English and available for purchase. As long as these criteria are met, we welcome submissions from authors, illustrators, publishers, and self-publishers.
Contest entries accepted in 3 formats: printed book, ebook, audiobook.

Story Monsters LLC® does not accept submissions that include AI-generated or AI-assisted content in any form for its Purple Dragonfly, Royal Dragonfly, Story Monsters Approved, and Studio Story Monsters Media awards programs.
To uphold the integrity, originality, and human creativity that define excellence in literature, we require that all submitted works be created solely by human authors and illustrators.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Illustrations, artwork, or visual elements created or modified using generative AI tools
Text (story, dialogue, descriptions, or any written content) generated or revised by AI
Book covers, interior design elements, or layouts produced with AI assistance
Any hybrid work that combines human-created content with AI-generated or AI-assistednelements
This policy reflects our commitment to:
Supporting and recognizing human authors and illustrators
Ensuring fair and equitable evaluation standards
Preserving the artistic integrity of children’s literature
By submitting a work, entrants certify that:
All content is entirely human-created
No portion of the work has been generated or assisted by AI tools
The work is original and does not replicate or derive from AI-generated material
As technology evolves, Story Monsters LLC may review and update this policy to ensure it continues to reflect best practices and community standards.

check “NOT APPLICABLE” in the formats you are NOT entering.

AUDIOBOOK ENTRIES:
Email one (1) copy of each audiobook for each category in which it is entered. MP3 files are accepted for Audiobook entries. Along with the audiobook, attach one (1) copy of the email confirmation per title for each category in which the audiobook is entered. You may also upload your audiobook file to a google drive and email the secure link.
All audiobook entries emailed to contests@storymonsters.com.

Email one (1) copy of each eBook in which it is entered. PDF or EPUB files are accepted for eBook entries. Please attach one (1) copy of the email confirmation per title for each category in which the eBook is entered.

Winners will be notified the last week of August.
EARLY BIRD PRICING!
BOOKS: $70 per category for submissions completed on or before March 1, 2026.
After March 1, 2026, the fee is $75 per category.
ebooks: $65 per category for submissions completed on or before March 1, 2026.
After March 1, 2026, the fee is $70 per category.
All Submissions:
Please complete the form on the next screen in its entirety. No materials will be returned. To be eligible, submissions must be postmarked by May 3, 2026 or earlier. Submissions postmarked after that date will not be considered for an award and books will not be returned; however, your entry fee will be refunded. Top award winners will be notified by email the last week of August.
For Printed Books
For Printed Books: Mail one (1) copy of each book for each category in which it is entered. Along with the books, send one (1) printed copy of the email confirmation per title for each category in which the book is entered. All entries may be sent in the same envelope.
