2020 Purple Dragonfly Book Award Winners Announced

CHANDLER, AZ (July, 2020)—Winners of the 2020 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards, the best in children’s books, have been announced. The fantasy picture book, Get Back in the Book! written by Larry Issa and illustrated by Emma Chadwick, took home this year’s $500 Grand Prize. The book also earned unprecedented perfect scores for First Place designations in five categories: Best Cover Design, Best Illustrations, Best Interior Design, Picture Books 5 & Younger and Picture Books 6 & Older.

Inspired by Issa’s travels to magical spots around the world and a lifelong passion for art and literature, the 32-page book tells the story about when Danny, an aspiring young writer and artist, writes his first book and the characters he created come magically to life and want to explore the world! But Danny has to encourage them to return to the pages of his book so that children can read about them. This extraordinary tale within a tale transports young readers to faraway places and shows them the powerful and positive impact of books and storytelling.
